Nose: Grassy with notes of vanilla, citrus and very faint black licorice.

Palate: Red fruits and spicy citrus fill the mouth,  Notes of red licorice, and plums add complexity. This bargain single malt is creamy, smooth and rich. Smoke and charcoal build on the finish.

Comments: Pretty complex for entry level single malt. But all the flavors are very subtle and hard to distinguish.  Still this is one of the best values in single malts. All the assertiveness and complexity of single malt, for the price of a blended scotch.

Note: This was a better value before The New York Times picked it as their top value scotches, it used to be about $5 cheaper.

Alc/vol. 40%
