This beer has a rich amber color with a nice orange hue. The aroma is hoppy and leans more toward orange rather than citrus. Caramel and malt show up as the beer warms.
The beer is rich but not overly creamy or full. The minty/orange hops greet the tongue with nice bitterness, and malty sweetness balances the bite nicely. Good acidity keeps this beer balanced.
At 7.7% Alc. This beer falls into the winter warmer category of winter ales, not a spiced winter ale. The hops and acidity give this ale a refeshing lightness. A hopheads winter ale.
Old man winter is the winter seasonal by Southern Tier, a western NY brewer known for its West Coast styled IPAs, and their sweet flavored stouts.

  1. I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It was more rich and balanced than I expected.
