I had high hopes for this beer since Parabola and Abacus; two other beers in the Firestone Walker Reserve Series were two of the best beers I’ve ever tasted. The Anniversary Ale #15 does not live up to those two beers, at least at the moment. This beer is made for aging, and although I did not love this beer I bought another and can’t wait to try in a few years.
This beer has aromas of roasted nuts, coffee, burnt caramel and the typical raison quality you would get in a barley wine. All of these are present in the palate as well, along with oaky bourbon. The palate is sweet and hot with alcohol at the same time. The aftertaste has nice caramel.
Alc. 12.5%

Firestone Walker Brewery is located in Paso Robles Ca. if you don’t believe us you can find it here on our map.

  1. I agree with your review. This beer was good, but it didn’t match up with the heavy price tag. It was definitely full of flavor, but it had a layer of harshness that I think is due to the fact that it needs to sit for a few years like you said.
