Nose: The nose starts with subtle grassy notes, followed by caramel, toffee and vanilla. Dark chocolate and mint add an After Eight Mint like complexity.
Palate: Wow big time spicy and warm. Flavors of caramel, turn to mint, then followed by vanilla and orange. I think I get some cherries as well. Finishes with a little smoke.
Comments: This scotch is spicy and hot, and stays that way whether you add three drops, or an ounce of water. But the flavors and complexities are outstanding.
This scotch is tough to judge, the flavors are delicious, but some will rightfully be put off by this brutal whisky.
P.S. I know the current release of this scotch is batch #36, but I told you I had been keeping notes on scotches for years. I will post a more current review soon.
